Home Insurance

Do tenants need to purchase home insurance?

Since household items are tenants’ personal possessions, therefore tenants should purchase home insurance to cover their own household items. With home insurance, tenants, tenants’ family members, and their household items will be covered as well as their personal third-party liability.

If I am a landlord and purchase home insurance for my rental property, what coverage will I receive?

OneDegree Home Insurance offers landlord protection as an optional benefit. If a tenant fails to pay rent as per the lease agreement, the landlord can claim up to six months of actual rental loss after obtaining the Writ of Possession through legal action. Additionally, if the tenant intentionally damages home contents or specified appliances, the insurance company will cover the repair costs.

What is third-party liability coverage?

Third-party liability coverage protects the policyholder (first party) from claims made by others (third parties) when the policyholder is found legally liable, with the insurance company serving as the second party. For home insurance, third-party liability coverage includes compensation arising from household accidents - for example, if a burst pipe in your home damages your neighbor's property, the insurance will cover the compensation costs you're liable for.

Does home insurance include coverage by a fire insurance?

Home insurance does not cover items that are covered by fire insurance. While home insurance primarily covers household contents, fire insurance protects the building structure, including original doors and windows, walls, floors, and plumbing. OneDegree Home Insurance offers optional building structure coverage that covers the expenses incurred from repairing or reinstating the building to its original condition due to specified incidents.

What does home insurance cover?

Home insurance protects against accidental home contents loss, including damage from water leakage, flooding, burst pipes, and natural disasters like typhoons and rainstorms. The third-party liability coverage helps cover compensation expenses if visitors are injured or their property is damaged due to accidents in your home. The policy also extends its protection to personal accidental death, accidental loss of properties in the open, and even your actual rental loss.
